British Columbia road network update

May 15, 2009

On behalf of the Canadian Council on Geomatics (CCOG), Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is pleased to announce the latest release of the British Columbia portion of National Road Network (NRN). The update was produced by and carried out in the framework of a maintenance agreement between NRCan and the Integrated Land Management Bureau (ILMB) of the Government of British Columbia with funding support from GeoConnections.

This GeoBase NRN release conforms to version 2.0 data specifications. It contains approximately 750km of new roads as well as many other attributive and geometric updates.

The release files were produced by the ILMB's Crown Registry & Geographic Base Branch (CRGB) in consultation with the Centre for Topographic Information - Sherbrooke. The underlying road network data is continuously maintained through partnerships with private companies and increasingly, with local governments as well.

Data Change Management (DCM) files between 2009-05 and previous 2008-06 releases are also provided for this dataset.
