Participation grows in GeoBase National Road Network 2.0
The governments of Nova Scotia and Yukon recently signed agreements to participate in the GeoBase National Road Network (NRN) 2.0.
The latest NRN profile features place names, street names and block face (intersection-to-intersection) addresses.
The NRN 2.0 datasets for Nova Scotia and Yukon will be published, along with those for Alberta and British Columbia, during the summer.
GeoBase data is available to all without cost or restrictions, and under a common license, under the Data tab at this Portal.
"Road network data is crucial framework data that provides the underpinning of many geomatics applications such as mapping, routing, emergency response, and analyzing census data," explained Éric Loubier, Program Manager for the Natural Resources Canada's Earth Sciences Sector Contribution to GeoBase in Sherbrooke.
Negotiations are ongoing with other provincial and territorial governments to complete the NRN 2.0 data profile.
