British Columbia road network update
June 16, 2008
On behalf of the Canadian Council on Geomatics (CCOG), Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is pleased to announce the latest release of the British Columbia portion of National Road Network (NRN). The update was produced by and carried out in the framework of a maintenance agreement between NRCan, Statistics Canada (STC) and the Integrated Land Management Bureau (ILMB) of the Government of British Columbia with funding support from GeoConnections.
This GeoBase NRN release conforms to the new edition 2.0 data specifications and includes Street and Place Name information. Address Ranges remain to be included. It contains about 2 400 km of new roads as well as many other attributive and geometric updates.
The release files were produced by the ILMB's Base Mapping and Geomatics Services Branch (BMGS) in consultation with the Centre for Topographic Information - Sherbrooke. The underlying road network data is continuously maintained through partnerships with private companies and increasingly, with local governments as well.
Data Change Management (DCM) files between 2008-06 and previous 2007-06 releases are also provided for this dataset.
