Nova Scotia road network update on GeoBase

December 21, 2005

On behalf of the Canadian Council on Geomatics (CCOG), Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) is pleased to announce the release of the first update of the Nova Scotia portion of National Road Network (NRN) produced by Service Nova Scotia And Municipal Relations (SNSMR) through the Nova Scotia Geomatics Centre (NSGC) and carried out in the framework of a maintenance agreement between NRCan and SNSMR.

This new GeoBase NRN dataset was produced in collaboration with SNSMR and its provincial partners:

  • Emergency Measures Organization
  • Transportation and Public Works
  • 55 Municipal Unit
  • First Nations

NRCan is proud to be associated with SNSMR through the NSGC and their efforts in maintaining the GeoBase NRN. NSGC is to be congratulated for their efforts and success in working within a community of stakeholders that are actively participating in the maintenance of their provincial road network and producing an NRN dataset in compliance with the National Standards.

Note: Due to a modification within the graphic resolution of the product specifications, there is almost a total change in the National Identifiers (NID) of the geometries for this new edition of the dataset.

This new NRN dataset also contains resources/recreation roads that were absent in the last GeoBase edition.
